Acropolis The Acropolis hill is the "Sacred Rock" of Athens. During the Classic period of 450-330 B.C. the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, and the Temple of Nike, dedicated respectively to Athena Parthenon, Athena Polias, and Athena-Apteron Nike, were built over the ruins of earlier temples. The Propylaea, the entrance to the sacred area was also constructed at this time.
