| Stadium |
The Panathenaic Stadium hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. The site was originally transformed into a stadium by Lykourgos in 330-329 B.C. for the Panathinea athletic competitions. From 140 to 144 A.D., Herodes Atticus
restored the Stadium to its current form of horseshoe architecture which is the form archeologist uncovered in the 1870 excavation. |
